Just received this gorgeous Invicta Speedway chronograph right now, and I have to say that I am genuinely impressed. This black-faced watch crafted in solid stainless steel has exceeded my expectations for any timepiece at the $130 cost point. For starters, the watch comes housed in a vivid yellow box with black lettering and logo on the top. As soon as open, the Speedway greets you though wrapped about a velvet-like pillow of the exact same case color (real classy).
Finding the owner's manual and warranty papers is kinda tricky...they are hidden behind the 'ceiling' panel of the box. The manual instructions are broad, but I didn't have any complications getting the watch started....ON WITH THE WATCH!
The Speedway's heft is decent...does not feel inexpensive or loose at all. You can certainly feel the weight of the center-piece. The hyperlinks are solid and brushed stainless steel, although the center has a polished effect. The clasp locks securely and has no clear weaknesses.
I chose the 9223 since of the high degree of contrast amongst the subdials, tick marks, and face. The polished stationary bezel greatly complements the silver subdials, which with the 9223 face, add a pleasing pop...even from far. Engraving all about the watch is excellent.
Movement of the watch, so far, seems to be suitable on the funds. While the sweep of the second hand is not entirely in line with the tick marks, timing is adequate as far as I know.

My husband currently had one Invicta watch and was thrilled to receive this watch. He loves the sleek black style and the band that makes it possible for the watch to match for both casual and formal wear.

Like the watch due to the fact it has great large Arabic numbers. I have half a dozen Invictas so I guess I am a fan. Black case is sweet and the crown on the left implies no additional digging into my left wrist! Most of my other Invictas do not have a second hand that runs devoid of pushing a chrono button. This 1 ticks off the seconds around the face like a normal watch - retro cool. I would have preferred a white face with the black case, but that choice is not available - but then you have to deal with white hands against a white face, and most likely black numerals that would be hard to illuminate. I would have liked to seen orange tipped hands as well. (or some contrasting color scheme)
Do not know why they covered a nice leather band with cloth materials that make the band appear like a child's watch. A person named it "technofiber".
The crown does not screw down as other diver watches. This worries me so I will not be swimming or showering with it. Possibly some new technology?

I admit, I am a watchhead. This watch does use a Japanese movement (indicated by the micro-printing on the face which reads "Japan Movt" at the 6 o'clock position), but the modern Japanese movements are on par with anything the Swiss can make, and in some instances are arguably far better - though they don't carry the identical veneration as becoming able to say you have a "Swiss watch".
Admittedly the second hand isn't as smooth as a $3500 watch and it doesn't "sweep" like a Rolex....but honestly what do you expect for around $100? I am guessing about 99% of the average citizen would have no clue if this was a $100 watch or a $3500 watch - and I'm not about to spend a couple of additional thousand just to have the name Rolex glued to the face. The stopwatch function is nice, but honestly isn't that valuable. It could be neat to watch the second hand swing back up to 12 when you reset it, but with the exception of testing a speedometer I doubt it would be precise sufficient for much else. I will not use any of the chronograph functions, but once more I think they add a touch of class to the watch and make it look much alot more costly than it is.
The fit and finish as very fine, and even though I have worn it just about every day since it arrived and haven't exactly been gentle thus far there is not a scratch to be located anyplace on the face or even the band. All points regarded as I would not hesitate for a second to buy an additional Invicta, and assuming this watch stands up to my usage more than the next year or two I most likely will add to my collection. I am considering buying one other watch in black, and I am am putting Invicta at the best of my list due to the way this watch has performed. The only thing I would modify about this watch would be to swap out the battery for a self-winding movement, but for under a hundred bucks that is asking for rather a bit. It fits well with a suit, but can also dress up your jeans and t-shirt without seeking out of location. The function of the chronograph is simple, dependable and pretty useful. A single dial for minutes, 1 dial for seconds, and a third as a 24 hour clock. The ticking is not also loud for my liking. The strap is thick and comfortable with an appealing crease down the middle and a greasy finish.
The only minor gripes I can feel of: 1) the watch I received is a bit on the quickly side, gaining numerous seconds per week. Could possibly have just been my distinct watch, who knows. two) wish that the chronograph allowed for timing higher than one particular-hour intervals and that the minute dial had markers for every minute rather than every single five. 3) the date is a quite conspicuous omission. I purchased my Tissot PRC 200 last fall and it's amazing! But, it consistently ran about 2 or three minutes slow each week. I referred to as Tissot (Swatch Group USA) and they said send it in for repair because it was still below warranty. But when they received it they notified me that they do not present a warranty for watches bought on the net and adjusting my watch would be a full service charge of $200. Purchased this watch about a week ago, looked at all the selections about the identical cost and read all the reviews, actually happy with my choice. - PU band is not as breathable as a leather band. My wrist gets genuinely sticky and sweaty if I go ride my bike with it on. I'm also worried about the durability of the band. Then again, the woman at the fossil store said she's never heard of 1 breaking, and it would also be covered below the remarkable 11 year warranty if it did.
- Polished steel case sides will eventually scratch. I think about that battle scars, but others could be turned off by it.
- Flat mineral crystal not as resistant to breaking as a domed crystal.
- The flyback function on the chronograph is slow (it takes longer for the chronograph to reset back to :00:00 than I would count on ).
- The chronograph buttons are smaller. This may perhaps be a problem for an athlete timing themselves on the go or any one wearing gloves.
